Leona Irene Ashley Ragsdale was born in Chandler, OK on May 15, 1916 to Arthur and Mary Elva Ashley. She passed away April 21, 2007 at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 6 days. While living in Chandler, Irene met and married Opla (O.E. "Rags") Ragsdale. They moved to Tulsa in 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, O.E. Ragsdale on February 6, 1996; her mother and father; 3 brothers, Ora, Allen and Charles Ashley; 4 sisters, Lily Bearden, Flossie Robbins, Edna Cardwell and Bessie Ashley; and 1 great grandchild, Connor Ragsdale. She is survived by 4 children, a daughter, Loretta Jones and her husband, Kenneth, of Tulsa; 3 sons, Leon Ragsdale, Kenneth Ragsdale and his wife, Margaret and Harold Ragsdale and his wife, Kim, all of Tulsa; 2 sisters, Norma Saul, of Denver, CO and Viola Hodecker, of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, Debra Fredette and husband, Paul; David Jones; Tia Garrett and husband, Alan; Kim Cipolla and husband Rick; Terry Ragsdale and wife, Carla; Todd Ragsdale; Pam Stanton and husband, Don; Jason, Justin and Chris Ragsdale and 12 great grandchildren, Hannah and Jonathan Fredette; Jake Garrett; Kelsey and Whitney Cipolla; Grant, Adam and Rachel Ragsdale; Daniel, Elijah, Nathan and Joseph Ragsdale; and many nieces and nephews. Irene taught Sunday School for over 50 years and also taught Training Union and Vacation Bible School while at Trinity and Oakhurst Baptist Churches. She was a long-time member at Trinity and for many years was their Assistant Treasurer. Irene loved flower gardening and oil painting. Two of her paintings hang in the Lincoln County Museum in Chandler, OK. She said that raising her four children was her greatest accomplishment. Service 10:00 A.M. Wednesday Trinity Baptist Church with burial in Oak Park Cemetery Chandler, OK. Under the direction of Ninde Garden Chapel.
