Rev. Roy C. Barnes was born April 27, 1920 in South Otter, Illinois to Richard Marshall and Agnes Anna (Greaves) Barnes. He passed from this life Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the age of 87.

Rev. Barnes was an ordained Southern Baptist minister and worked in the maintenance department and as a patient greeter at Hillcrest Medical Center.

Rev. Barnes is survived by his wife of 66 years, Thelma of the home; daughters, Elaine Wright, Paula Hodges, Rosemary Barnes and Rebecca Rainey; sons, Curtis and Daniel Barnes; brother, Ray Barnes; grandchildren, Shannon, Melissa, Tanya, Christa, Tim, Andrea, Holly, Dianna and Brandon; 20 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Brookside Baptist Church following a private committal service in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.
