Obituary of Barbra Bitner

Barbra Jean (Cornelius) Bitner was born November 20, 1923 in Pittsburg, Kansas to John Jackson and Josephine (Hromek) Cornelius. She completed this life on October 22, 2011in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 87.
Barbra was raised in Pittsburg, Kansas where she graduated from Pittsburg High School and attended Pittsburg Business College. After business college she worked for Glennon Insurance Agency and then for Mackie-Clemens Coal Company. Barbra married Henry Clay Bitner on November 10, 1943 in Pittsburg, Kansas. He served in the South Pacific with the Seabees during World War II. He was employed by the Frisco Railroad which later became Burlington Northern and was transferred many times with the railroad moving his family to many different places. They were members of Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Tulsa.
She was preceded her in death by her husband of 56 years, Henry on August 21, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister and on July 22, 2005, her daughter, Karen Brewer.
Barbra was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Alden and her husband, Lee of Sand Springs; her son, John Steven Bitner of Tulsa; her grandchildren, Kristina Butts, Carolyn Cole, Adam Bitner, Melanie Henry and Valerie Brewer; and eight great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, November 4, 2011in Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
