Obituary of Thurman Bair

Bair, Thurman Eugene, 96, passed from this life on Thursday, September 20, 2007. He was born on December 25, 1910 in Bridgeport, IL to Ernest and Ethel Jane (Michael) Bair. He moved to Oklahoma at a young age and graduated in 1934 from Central State Teachers College (now University of Central Oklahoma). He coached and taught History before becoming Superintendent of Schools in "Old" Prue. He later coached and taught History at Avant, OK and in 1940 received his Master's degree in Science from Oklahoma State A & M College (now Oklahoma State University). During WWII Thurman worked at Douglas Aircraft. He later became an agent for State Farm Insurance Company for 66 years. He was a member of the Exchange Club - Midwest District and was on the Board of Directors of the National Exchange Club. He was a longtime and active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Thurman was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and received his 50 year certificate on May 13, 1996. He married Ruth Segale Stockton in Oklahoma City on August 26, 1934 and she preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, Mike Bair, of Locust Grove, OK; a daughter, Jean Wright, of Jenks, OK; 2 grandsons and their wives, Eric and Mitzi Wright and Michael and Beverly Wright; 3 great grandchildren, Cory, Tyler and Ella. Service 10:30 A.M. Tuesday St. Paul's United Methodist Church with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to OSU Foundation, P.O. Box 1749, Stillwater, OK 74076-1749 or your favorite charity. Ninde Brookside Chapel 918-742-5556.
