Bixler, Charles H., "Chuck", 80, of Mannford, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2008. Charles was born on January 5, 1928 in Tulsa, OK to Charley and Ruby (Mills) Bixler. His mother preceded him death shortly after he was born. He was raised by his father and step-mother, Willie Mae (Wilkinson) Bixler. He received his B.S. Degree from Oklahoma A & M College (Oklahoma State University). Charles was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving during WWII. He was employed as an Aeronautical Engineer for Chance Vought (Dallas, TX) and later for General Electric in the Missile Space Division (Valley Forge. PA). In 1989 he received the highest award in General Electric, "Engineer of the Year" for sustained creativity and professionalism. He had a strong work ethic and amazing love of family and friends. He had a passion for music and an endearing sense of humor. He was always an active church member and served many years with his wife as a Sunday School teacher for elementary grades. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Susan Kay and Royce Chancellor, of El Paso, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Carol Bixler, of Leesburg, VA; sister, Ruby Jo Bixler, of Anchorage, AK; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. His love and dedication for his wife of 59 years was unsurpassed and set the standard for his family. The family will receive friends 4 - 6 PM Monday at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. Funeral service 10:00 A.M. Tuesday Broadway Baptist Church (Sand Springs) interment with military honors at Woodland Memorial Park. Ninde Brookside Chapel 918-742-5556.
