Obituary of Nancy Wilkerson

WILKERSON - Nancy Louise Sharp, 62, died Friday, September 9, 2005, at home in Tulsa, OK, in peace and with the poise, dignity and strength that she demonstrated throughout her life.
She was a retired teacher for Tulsa Public Schools, having taught primarily Second and Third Grade Home Room at Sam Houston and Owens Elementary schools, 1964-1982. Her love of the teaching profession and its importance were well known to all those around her. Of great disappointment was leaving the profession for health reasons. Nancy was then active for many years in the Oklahoma Chapter of the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation, a support group for those with the affliction.
Nancy graduated from Joplin, MO High School in 1960 and attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity and met her future husband, Roger, whom she married December 20, 1964. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Arkansas in 1964 and a Master of Arts from the University of Tulsa in 1971.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Roger; her mother, Donna Williams Sharp of Joplin, MO; her mother-in-law Kathleen Wilkerson of Ft. Smith, AR; sister-in-law Mary Wilkerson, Ft. Smith, AR; brother and sister-in-law Sam and Vicki Wilkerson, Tulsa, OK; brother-in-law Bill Lovelace, St. Charles, MO; cousins William Gammill, Joanne Hindman, Kansas City, MO; David Williams, Oklahoma City, OK; nieces Wendy Lovelace, Florissant, MO, Rachel, Lisa, Angela, Julia Wilkerson, Tulsa, OK, nephew Samuel Wilkerson, Tulsa, OK; grand nephew Caleb Lovelace, Florissant, MO; aunt Lorene Williams, Kansas City, MO. Her father, W. N. Sharp, Joplin, MO, sister, Judith Ann Sharp Lovelace, and uncle, Robert Keck Williams preceded her in death.

A memorial service for Nancy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel in Joplin, MO, with interment at Mt. Hope Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, MO 417-623-4567 and Ninde Garden Chapel, Tulsa, OK.
