Obituary of Gladys Holderman

Holderman, Mrs. Gladys May (Staten), 88, of Tulsa died at 3:03 am February 7, 2008 at St. Johns Medical Center. Funeral services will be held10:00 am Monday, February 11, 2008 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3737 S Peoria, Tulsa OK with the Reverend Karen Clewell officiating. Mrs. Holderman will lie in state on Sunday 8:00 am to 9:00 pm February 10, 2008 at the Ninde Brookside Funeral Home, 3841 S Peoria, Tulsa, OK. Mrs. Holderman was born on April 15, 1919 in Agra, Oklahoma, the daughter of Anna (Wertman) and Hi Williamson Staten. She attended elementary school and high school in Stillwater, Oklahoma, but graduated from High school in Salina, Kansas. She attended Oklahoma A&M College graduating in 1941 with a degree in Home Economics. There she met her future husband, Kenneth Lavern Holderman and they were married January 11, 1942. Gladys made her home in Stillwater, OK while her husband served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Major following a tour in a Tank Battalion in The Philippines. The Holdermans made their home in Stillwater until 1947 when they moved with their two children to Tulsa where Mr. Holderman was employed by The Scott-Rice Co. The Holdermans were divorced in 1978. Mrs. Holderman has always been an active member of the Methodist Church wherever she lived. She was active in the Kappa Phi church sorority in college. She also enjoyed fine needle work and the results of her labors were enjoyed by many friends and family. However, much of her life was spent caring for her daughter, Dianne, who has had cerebral palsy since birth. She is survived by two children, Dianne of the home and Kermit Lee Holderman and wife Susan of Portola Valley, CA. Also two grandchildren, Zachary Holderman and Dane Holderman; also, one brother, Hi W. Staten, Jr., of Bartlesville, OK.
