I cannot believe the news. CPT Wheeler was in some of the toughest fighting during the invasion, because he was attached to the forward elements of the combat engineers. I was with him when he emptied four magazines during a firefight and threw all of his grenades, and that was combat up close and personal. I wasn't with him then but he served two previous tours in Somalia which was a Hellhole. I would have gone into combat with him any day of any week. He was a Helluva' soldier and I for one salute his memory. I never expect to serve under another officer as good, or gutsy as he was, for the rest of my career. Sleep well, Captain.
