Obituary of Max Hawkins

Please share a memory of Max to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hawkins, Max Lynn, 77, died April 30, 2008, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on December 28, 1930 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Jack and Mozell (Ensley) Hawkins. His parents and his sister, Janice Childs, preceded him in death. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his former wife, Peggy Hawkins; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Glen Hawkins of Dallas, TX and Lonnie and Debbie Hawkins, of Garland, TX; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Connie Hawkins of Houston, TX and Glenda and Mark Allison, of Tulsa; 2 nephews, Eddie and Jimmie Childs. His five grandchildren, Haley Hawkins Wright and Trevor Hawkins, and Erin, Sarah, and Erik Allison loved their PePa dearly. Max never tired of meeting new people, making them smile or groan at his corny jokes. He loved his Dr. Pepper and Braum's vanilla ice cream. Max fulfilled his calling as a Baptist minister for small churches and supported his family by working hard as a paint contractor. He was treated with respect and compassion by a wonderful group of caregivers at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Center for eight years. His last days were made comfortable by another great group of caregivers at Forest Hills Nursing Home. The family thanks each of you for the very difficult, and sometimes thankless, work you do. Even through many difficult years, Max's gentleness of spirit exemplified his love of Christ and the true Peace that passes all understanding that we receive from Christ's gift of Grace and Faith and Hope. Memorials may be made to the Tulsa Mental Health Association or the chairty of one's choice. Memorial service 11:00 A.M. Monday Ninde Brookside Chapel. 742-5556
