Obituary of Carolyn Bell
Please share a memory of Carolyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carolyn Garrett Meador Bell was born November 28, 1963 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Newton Eugene Meador III and Danna Mahoney Meador. Carolyn passed away February 19, 2012, at the age of 48 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Carolyn attended Grimes, Nimitz and Booker T. Washington H.S., where she excelled as a Varsity Tennis Team player. Athletics came easy to Carolyn, as she became the first girl in Tulsa to play quarterback on an all boys 6th grade team. This achievement made the Tulsa World which she was so proud of. Her idol then was Tatum O'Neil from the movie Paper Moon. Carolyn looked identical to her and embraced her spirit as well.
Carolyn's love of sports and of helping others influenced her decision to change from the dental field to becoming a Licensed Sports Massage Therapist. This passion was illustrated in her caring for those around her, helping athletes prepare for events, and in the time she took to practice her skills with the residents at Aberdeen Heights Assisted Living, where her mother resides.
Her proudest accomplishment was the birth of her son, Brady Garrett Bell. Her whole world revolved around him and the strong love she had for him. That love was also shown affectionately to her dogs, Sammy & Riley, whom she adored.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Brady Garrett Bell; mother, Danna Meador; brothers: Mark Meador & wife Susan; Dan Meador & wife Dee; sister, Julianne Blesi & husband Jim; and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father, Newton Eugene Meador III; brothers, John Lawrence Meador and Matthew Meador; and niece, Dana Jean Meador.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February, 23, 2012 at The Church of St. Mary Catholic Church in Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial gifts be made to Clarehouse in memory of Carolyn.
"We will always carry your memory in our hearts Carolyn. We all love you!"
