Obituary of Rebecca Kurtz

Rebecca McCright "Becky" Kurtz passed from this life Friday, May 16, 2008 at the age of 87 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Thomas W. Kurtz; sons and daughters-in-law, Edward T. and Suzanne Kurtz, Philip D. and Molly Kurtz; daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and Curtis Porter, all of Tulsa. She is also survived by 2 sisters and a brother, Ellen Todd and her husband Don, of Tulsa, and Patricia Sandel and her husband Leon of Weeki Wachee Florida; Bill McCright and his wife, Margaret of Tulsa; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Becky was born February 19, 1921 in Tulsa to Samuel H. and Lillian (Montgomery) McCright. She was a life-long Tulsan, a 1938 graduate of Tulsa Central High School and attended Oklahoma State University. She met Thomas Kurtz in high school and they were married January 17, 1941. Becky was a long-time member of John Knox Presbyterian Church; a long-time member and past president of the Tulsa Mrs. Club; a volunteer for the Tulsa Boy's Home and was very involved with Tulsa Scouting. She enjoyed entertaining her family and friends, her trips to her log cabin at Cedar Crest, snow skiing and traveling. For forty years, she entertained the family Christmas Eve, showering them with gifts, poems and many fond memories. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at John Knox Presbyterian Church.
