Obituary of Rodger Devasher

Please share a memory of Rodger to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Devasher, Rodger A., died on Monday, June 9, 2008 after an extended illness. He was born in Tulsa on November 2, 1958 to Connie (Ensign) and Joe Devasher and attended Eisenhower and Patrick Henry Elementary Schools, and Edison Junior and Senior High Schools and graduated with the class of 1977. He was preceded in death by his sister Debbie, who died in 1997, and his grandparents, Georgia and Sam Mizel, Dale Ensign, and Georgia and Jim Devasher. He is survived by his wife Marian "Moo" of the home, his mother Connie Devasher, his father Joe Devasher and wife Marilyn, all of Tulsa; his Aunt Jan & Uncle Paul Ensign and cousin Lori and her husband Stacy Scroggins of Broken Arrow; his cousin Mike Ensign of Nashville; and his in-laws, the Ron & Mary Lou LeBoeuf family of Tulsa. Rodger met his wife, Marian LeBoeuf, at Edison High School and they were married in Tulsa on June 9, 1990. He worked at Sheridan Lanes, and then for the City of Tulsa as a Land Surveyor in the Stormwater Management and Public Works Departments until 2004. When Rodger was young he was active in ice hockey, baseball, motorcycling, water and snow skiing, and excelled in go-kart racing, winning trophies and races across the country. Rodger was an animal lover and volunteered at Safari's Wildlife Sanctuary with Lori and Stacy Scroggins and her parents Jan and Paul Ensign until he had a stroke in April 2004. Although he had limited mobility after that, he could still be found at Safari's driving a golf cart and befriending all the animals, mainly the wolves and tigers, on most Sunday afternoons. Rodger's treasured pet wolf, Abby, was the highlight of his visits. He especially looked forward to feeding and petting her and the hugs and kisses she showered him with. A memorial celebration in honor of Rodger's life will be held at his family's park, Safari's Wildlife Sanctuary, 26881 East 58th Street, Broken Arrow, OK 74014, on Sunday, June 22 at 5:00 pm. Seating will be limited, so please feel free to bring a lawn chair. In lieu of flowers, Rodger requested that donations be made to Safari's to help care for the animals he loved so much.
