The first "Mr. Hill" I met was Charles Hill, my string instructor when I was in elementary school. Then, I began teaching vocal music at Thoreau. Paul was teaching instrumental music there. We shared a stereo system. I will never forget what Paul did on my first day at Thoreau. Since I sang opera, I wasn't familiar with country music. I was in my room, and all of a sudden this song came blasting through the speaker --- "Cow Pattie". Paul said he just wanted to welcome me since my name was Patti. We taught that one year together at Thoreau, and later, we taught many years side by side at Nimitz. I saw Charles Hill less than a month ago at the barbershop, when I took my son. He looked great. I teased him about having much more hair than Paul! I have been out of town and just heard about Paul. I have been trying to find either your address, Sylvia, or Charles Hill, so that I could send a card. Hopefully, you will read this. Paul was my friend and I'm so sorry he had to leave us at such a young age! My prayers are with you. Patti

My heart goes out to the Paul Hill family. I am not sure where I would be without the Edison music program and Mr. Hill. His encouragement and belief in me will forever be remembered and cherished. His passing is a great loss, but he will be remembered in our hearts forever.

Robin and I are deeply saddend by the sudden loss of our friend, fellow teacher, and passionate musician Paul. His music groups were always top notch, and he always presented fantastic programs. While at Edison and Nimitz, he was an inspiration to those of us in the music education profession, as well as to many thousands of students who had the great fortune to be in Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Theory, or the many Arts Appreciation Courses that he taught. Our Chinese guest teacher Stuart Hao often spoke fondly of Paul as Paul shared the room across the hall from Stuart at Edison, and helped him on countless occasions. Paul could always be counted on to help in any situation. Our heartfelt prayers, sympathy, and love go out to those closest to him, especially to his family. Paul Hill was a great human being and will be dearly missed. May God be with you in your hour of need.

I taught with Paul at Nimitz, the last year that he was there. I admired very much his ability as a teacher and his willingness to do the extra things for his students to make playing music enjoyable. His sense of humor and his little jokes gave us all many laughs. He will be missed. You have my deepest sympathy at this time. Joe

I remember Paul as a fellow band member and a really good trombone player. We had some good times in NSU's band and he will be sorely missed. Our prayers to his family and loved ones.

I taught Drama next door to Mr. Hill's Arts Alive classes my first year at Edison and I loved to hear the music filling the hallway outside his classroom. He was such an amazing teacher and an inspiration to me. He was positive and encouraging and had a great sense of humor. Please know he will be dearly missed by many.

Kristy, Sylvia and Trisha, Words can not even express how sorry I am for the loss of your daddy and husband. I have so many fond memories of Paul through the years.
