Obituary of Zerita Packard

Zerita B. Packard of Tulsa, OK passed July 13, 2008 at the age of 92 at her home with her family by her side after a short illness. Zerita was born December 17, 1915, in Owatonna, MN, to Bertha and Gilbert Beckwith. She grew up and graduated from high school in Minneapolis. Following graduation she worked for Burgess-Beckwith Publishing Company in Minneapolis where she met her future husband, George Packard. Following their marriage in 1937, they relocated to Sand Springs and finally Tulsa where they lived and raised their family. Zerita was very active as a clergy wife in the Episcopal Church following the ordination of her husband, George, to the Episcopal priesthood in the early 60's. She and George served at St. Luke's, Tulsa, St. Basil's, Tahlequah, and retired from St. Peters, Tulsa. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, The Rev. George Packard, and her sister and brother-in-law, Sam and Dawn Warren. She is survived by her children, Susan Moffatt (George), Barbara Munsell (Jay), and David Packard (Vickie) all of Tulsa. She is also survived by grandchildren Todd Connor, McAlister, MT, Jason Munsell (Mindy), Columbia, SC, and Amy Munsell, Tulsa, and step-grandchildren Kevin Colbert (JoAnn) of Akron, OH and their children Samantha and Jack, Michael Colbert (Lisa) of Columbus, OH and their son Henry. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Jaden Munsell, Tulsa. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Jerry Warren (Sharalyn) of Denver, CO, Gail Warren and Bob Warren (Linda) of the Atlanta, GA area. She was a long-time member and volunteer at St. John's Episcopal Church, Tulsa. She was the most loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend and will always be held in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers the family would suggest that a contribution be made to St. John's Episcopal Church in Mother's memory. We would also like to thank Grace Hospice for their loving and professional care they provided Mother and our family. Memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23rd at St. John's Episcopal Church.
