Mary Naomi Bounds Underwood Roush was born January 25, 1924 in Altus, Oklahoma to Rachel and Hollis Bounds. Mary graduated from one of the first Will Rogers High classes in Tulsa. She was married to Colonel Harry Underwood for 57 years, during which time they reared 4 children: Mary Jaye Beathe, Laura Hunt, Steve Underwood, and Rachel Colwell. After Harry passed away she married Danny Roush. They were about to celebrate their 7th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband, her brother Lee Edward Bounds and two step-sisters Barbara Hambric and Betty Campbell, as well as her 4 children and 1 step-son Joe Roush, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. She had a zest for lifeshe could not sit still. You could find her gardening, cooking, redecorating, sewing, reading, traveling, shopping, and attending church. Her volunteer activities included starting Grandees, a program for reading in elementary classrooms, and organizing various church functions, as well as being a DVIS court watch at Tulsa County Courthouse, a board member of Maple Ridge Association, and President multiple times of the Hillcrest Hospital Auxiliary volunteer organization. Braden Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74136; or Evangelistic Temple: 5345 S. Peoria Tulsa, OK 74105. Mary Naomi passed peacefully at the Clarehouse on Wednesday July 23, 2008.
