Obituary of Lois Stilwell

Lois C. Stilwell, born on March 27, 1921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James and Myrtle Durant, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2005 at the Veranda Nursing Home in Dallas, Texas and is now present with the Lord. Preceded in death by parents, sister Barbara, husband Eldran. After graduating from Tulsa Central High School, she worked for Seismograph Service Corp. in downtown Tulsa until she married and stayed home to raise 2 children. Married in 1941 to the "older man" she first admired from a afar and that romance lasted 50 years. She had been active in their beloved church, Immanuel Baptist, and taught Primaries in Sunday School for over 20 years before giving that up to devote her time to her husband during his long-term illness. Lois was natural caregiver to may around her, including relatives and neighbors. She was compassionate, always a lady, and will be greatly missed until we see her again. Survivors are: daughter Sheryl Johnson of Dallas and husband Buell, son Jim Stilwell of Tulsa and wife Sandy, two granddaughters Laura Carter of Sapulpa and Julie Stilwell of Tulsa, step grandchildren Jenni Dobson of Tulsa, Laurie Burkitt of Beijing, China, Scott Burkitt of Charlotte, NC, three great step grandchildren, close in heart nieces and nephews in Texas and several cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Immanuel Baptist Church, 1915 E. 3rd, with Rev. Don Queen officiating, interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. til 8:00 p.m. Ninde Garden, 742-5556, www.ninde.com
