Obituary of Guynn Hammack

Guynn Ray Hammack was born December 17, 1943 in Henryetta, OK to Johnny and Margaret (Walker) Hammack, he was the eldest of three sons. While in school, Guynn played football, basketball, baseball and even the accordion. He grew up in Dewar, OK where he graduated from high school in 1962. Guynn attended Connors Junior College and then transferred to Northeastern State University where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in education. He taught and coached in Berryhill and Owasso for a number of years before going to work for Sears. While at Sears he met, and later married, Ann Harper. Upon returning to education, Guynn obtained his Masters degree and served as high school counselor and Principal at Collinsville High School and as Principal at Sperry High School. Guynn also served on Sandy Garrett's Principals' Advisory Board. He spent over 25 years in education before retiring in 1997. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and collected hats of every type. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of over 26 years, Ann; his three children: Beth, Lee Ann, and John; his mother, Margaret; his six grandchildren: Royal, Shelby, Riley, Lukas, Jakob, and Reid; and, his brothers, DeWayne and Dennis. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home, 39th and South Peoria Ave. A funeral service will be held 10:oo am Friday at Community of Christ Church, 202 West Main Street, Sperry, OK followed by graveside committal at Resthaven Cemetery in Sperry, OK.
