Obituary of Mary Mendoza

Mary Frances Mendoza, 83, joined her Savior on Saturday, April 11, 2009. She was born July 14, 1925 in Oklahoma City and was a lifelong resident of Tulsa. She was retired from Fourth National Bank, where she worked as bank vault manager. Mary was a member of First Lutheran Church all of her 83 years, serving as council president as well as secretary and treasurer. She also sang in the choir and taught Old Testament. Her love for and dedication to First Lutheran was truly inspiring. Mary, being a scholar of Hebrew history, language, and customs was welcomed as the only non-Jewish board member to serve at the Fenster Museum of Jewish Art. (Now called The Sherwin Miller Museum) She also served as a docent for the museum. Mary could often be found working in her garden, bird watching, or cooking gourmet meals for her family. Her children looked to her for strength and guidance as she led by example. Those who knew her were touched by her joyful spirit and compassionate nature. Mary was married for 33 years to restaurant owner and entertainer, Victor Mendoza. She is survived by: Sons: Victor Mendoza, Jr. and his wife Glenda of Bixby, Mario M. Mendoza and his wife Linda of Upland, CA and Tony Anderson and his wife Cindy of Littleton, CO; Daughter: Maria Daugherty and her husband Gary of West Hill, CA; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 21 at 11:30 A.M. at First Lutheran Church.
