Obituary of Jerome Smittle

Jerome "Jerry" Paul Smittle, 56, died on Friday, August 25, 2006 at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. He was born January 2, 1950 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the son of James Perry Smittle and Colleen Carroll MeElroy. He worked as a law enforcement officer in the Tulsa County Sherrifs Office. He also served in the U.S. Air National Guard. Jerry lived a life of devotion to his family and a legacy of love in the hearts of people that he touched. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. T. Raymond (Colleen) Brooks in 1999. He was a loving son, father and Grandfather. He is survived by his father, Raymond Brooks of Oklahoma City;his sons: Jerome "Jerry" Paul Smittle, II and his wife Valerie of Tulsa, Grant Webster Smittle and his wife Sharon of Tulsa, OK; Grandsons: Jerome Paul Smittle, III, Joseph Smittle, Wesley Smittle and Ethan Smittle; his sister: Betsy Smittle; his brothers: Jim Smittle and his wife Terri of Houston, TX, Mike Brooks and wife Mary of Rolla, MO, Kelly Brooks and his wife Lisa of Nashville, TN and Troyal Garth Brooks and his wife Trisha of Owasso, OK.; also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends that he treated as a blessing in his life. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 28th at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1727 S. 75th E. Ave.. Private family interment will be in the Yukon City Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
