Obituary of Philip Carter Marsh

Please share a memory of Philip to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Philip Carter Marsh was born November 16, 1966 in Littleton, Colorado. He passed from this life Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Emerald Beach, Florida at the age of 49. He attended Lee Elementary, Wright Junior High and Eastwood Schools in Tulsa before graduating high school from Metro Christian Academy in 1985. Carter received his Bachelors of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 1989, where he was member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Carter was always an avid athlete, he enjoyed running and was member of the Tulsa Running Club. He also enjoyed weight-lifting, golf, soccer, snow and water skiing, bowling and fishing. Likewise, he enjoyed working on “projects.” He was always looking for a good deal; he loved garage sales and Craigslist. Among his many interests, he enjoyed finishing crossword puzzles, eating sushi, Furr’s Cafeteria, grilling out for family and friends, going to the lake, vacations/road trips, working in the yard, making t-shirts and promotional products. He loved to joke and had a witty personality. He loved his family, including all of the animals, his many close friends, being happy and making others happy. Carter was owner of Prairie Productions Co., a co-owner of C&C Properties and a realtor with Berkshire Hathaway. He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, where he also coached Upward Basketball. He was also member of Will Rogers Rotary Club of Tulsa. However, the most important things in his life were his family, especially his wife and his two boys. Carter was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lawrence Fulghum Marsh and Helen Louise Wienecke Marsh; his maternal grandparents, Earl and Allabelle (Laughlin) Johnson; and in 2010 by his mother, Martha Louise “Marty” Marsh. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Christine Ann Marsh; sons, Jackson Carter Marsh and Benjamin Carter Marsh; his father, Philip Wienecke Marsh; his sister, Susan “Susie” Agee and her husband, Jasen of Paul’s Valley, OK; his brother, Paul Marsh and his wife, Wynne of Tulsa; nieces and nephews, Elaine, Meredith, Renae, Margo, Trent, Tori, Garrison, Georgia and Nate; uncles, Earl Johnson and Larry Marsh and his wife, Sally; many cousins and extended family. The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Ninde Brookside Funeral Home, 39th & South Peoria Ave. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, 10th & South Boulder Ave. In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute in Carter’s memory to Lee Elementary Foundation at www.leefoundationtulsa.org, West Side Soccer Alliance at www.wsasoccer.org/donate or the Tulsa SPCA at www.tulsaspca.org.
