Richard showered his particular brand of compassionate care on folks he deemed in need of it. Have many flashbacks of this happening. One such time: It was a cold, blustery day, lots of snow on the ground. The machine shop had closed and R. could not go to work. He dressed up in layers, took off for Skaggs, the local grocery at 21st/Memorial. He spent several hours hanging out in the parking lot, helping folks with carrying groceries to their cars, hanging onto elbows and arms for support, shoveling snow from under tires for traction, pushing, shoving, getting them on their way. He saw a niche and filled it.
