To all of my McCray family members, I hope that this poem help you in this time of sorry as much as it helped me to let go when my mother went home. Although I did not see Uncle Charle a lots, I loved him. I will miss the phone calls we shared and he will always be in my heart.
To Those I Love and Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me; let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears;
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love –
You can only guess how much you gave me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown;
But now, it is time I travel on alone.
So, grieve a while for me, if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It is only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories with your heart.
I won’t be far away for life goes on;
So if you need me, call me and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear
All of my love around you soft and dear,
And then when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and a wave and say
“Welcome Home”

To the McCray Family: My deepest condolences on the passing of Reverend David McCray. He was an incredible man of God with a warm, vibrant personality. I will always remember him as a debonair, impeccable dresser and a charming gentleman. He had a smile that was completely infectious and he will be greatly missed. I pray that God comforts you all in this time of grief.

To the McCray family: My family thanks you for three decades of sharing Mr. McCray in our Roundtree neighborhood. He made sure every homeowner kept their yard well manicured; but of course no one could out do him with gardening and mowing skills. Christmas was always joyful, because his light display drew onlookers down our block ever year to see his magical display. We certainly will miss Mr. McCray’s smile and work ethics around the neighborhood. We love you and think highly of Ms Etta. So Farewell Charlie. See you on the other side.
