My dad, Sam Aubrey, showed me the notice of Betty's passing. He was so sad to see it, as was I. I have amazing memories of living across the street from the Grigg family on 21st Place. Alan, Jim, my sister Betty and I were neighborhood pals and played together many years. I remember the day Tom was born, and Lee Grigg knocked on our door and said," We have a baby boy with hair as red as that dog", pointing to our Irish Setter, named "Red". I loved going to the Grigg house where Betty was so sweet, loving, and a wonderful mom to her three boys. I watched her with "baby" Tom and admired her wonderful love she displayed to him as well as the older boys. We enjoyed our many years at the Tulsa Ozark Club, sharing meals, fishing tales, and great experiences up and down the creek. Mom (Bunnie) and Betty and Merle Cronk were great fishing buddies, and of course the Sumpter family was also a great part of those weekend and summer times in the lodge, playing bridge and shuffleboard, and discussing life issues on the big porch swing. Sending love and condolences. Ginny Aubrey LeDoux

What a graceful and beautiful lady. As a child growing up at the Tulsa Ozark Club I will always remember Betty as the kind and very very patient mother of three boys that probably should have been spanked on a regular basis. She was always so loving and nurturing. Warren and I send our thoughts and prayers to her family.

It's been more than 50 years since I first met Mrs. Grigg. There are so many memories of trips to the Tulsa Ozark Club and her gracious and warm welcoming spirit. But, I'll always remember the fresh, warm Snickerdoodles that were waiting for our arrival with Tom after school. I've never found any better and it's not likely there will ever be anyone as kind who will offer them.

I am so sorry for your loss. I absolutely adored your Mom; here are my thoughts: Betty Grigg was one of the girls! I say this with great adoration as Betty’s charming personality was appreciated by all generations. She was always pleasant, selflessly engaged, and a lover of life. She experienced great sadness losing a husband and son too soon, but I never heard her complain. She was so likeable, simple and true, and I really enjoyed seeing her when I came to Tulsa. Betty was thoughtful; she never missed a Christmas card; however, I will miss her. Condolences to all who loved her, Liz, Bobby, Eva, Jonathan, and Tanner

I will miss my dear, kind friend. WE have lots of good memories of TOC times -cooking, laughing, porch todie time and lots of plans!!!! that included riding around, fishing and problem solving (do the club house members have to furnish their own sheets???) never did get the answer to that.Betty always made me feel welcome and loved. She shared her home and family with me . I enjoyed every minute of it!!! Alan, I wish you peace in your heart with loving memories. Lauane

I'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She was very near and dear to many that knew her. It's hard to pick just a few things to share because Betty was such a joy to be around. Alan, you most likely got that quality from her as well. One of my favorite memories of Betty was going on my first float trip. Being a young kid, I had no idea what to expect. It was over a Labor Day Weekend, she probably coordinated the trip. I remember her saying that you will never get too old to do this. She was right, always full of wisdom. TOC is like a community, Betty was one of its pillars. Always looking out for others and interested in what was going on in their lives. I can't think of any interaction with her that didn't involve asking how the family was. Betty was never afraid to give advice. Just a few years ago, we were up over the 4th of July and Betty said "you have 4 generations here". Make sure you get a picture. I'll always think of Betty when I look at that picture. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I look forward to seeing you in the near future. Sincerely, Glendon Hudson

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Alan. Val wrote the words below as an expression of our feelings. They are from the heart. Ron & Val The beautiful and amazing spirit of Betty Grigg will live on in our hearts. I believe there are no words that can adequately express our loss. To Ron and I, Betty represented the heart of the TOC. We were blessed to know her. She was an amazing woman who has touched our lives with her sweet nature and kind heart. We will always remember Betty with love in our hearts. Thomas Campbell said, “ To live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die. Very true. Betty’s laughter will forever be apart of the song of the creek and we shall feel her presence, along with the others who have gone before her, in the breeze on the lodge porch on a hot summer night. You will be remembered with love Betty Grigg! Val and Ron Davis

I am sad to hear of your moms passing. Mike and I talked about her this morning @ breakfast after we received your email. Mike revisited the pain of loosing his mom saying, "No matter the length of time you have with your mom it creates a hole that really never gets filled." We are thinking of you and your family at this time of great loss. I didn't get a chance to know her like many others @ TOC but one thing I do know...she lit up the room when she walked in and everyone smiled! She was angelic with her warm heart, laughter and love for others. I imagine she is feeling right at home where she now lives. We love you! Leigh

Alan, I just saw this email. I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know your mom personally but do know that she was a special lady and leaves a great legacy. My mom will be 92 in May. She was always my best friend and confidant. Dementia has been taking her away over the past few years. We are very lucky to have moms who lived & loved life for so many years. I am reminded by many who have lost moms early. Please know you and your family are in my prayers. With sympathy. Susan Murray

What a sweet and precious Lady. I thought the world of Betty. Her easy going and good natured spirit transcended generations and all her friends and family loved to be with her. She seemed timeless and was always looking for a new travel adventure with Ami or spending time with her Sons and their families at their beloved Ho Ho making beautiful memories together. I remember how thrilled she was to be with her three Great Grandsons. Betty was so proud of them. I looked at Betty as a role model. Betty was always positive, interested in others, valued her friends and family and had a positive influence on everyone she met. May you find peace in knowing that her love and influence will always be with you. With all our love, Lynne, John, Chris, Mike and Melissa
